| Breaking News |  | Monday, May 29th, 1961: SL Names Top Player of the Week
According to the voters, Kyu-jin Yi of the Costa Mesa Coasters had the best week of all South League hitters as he was named this week's Player of the Week.
The shortstop's accomplishments include 10 hits in 23 at-bats, a .435 batting average, 4 home runs, 8 RBIs and 6 runs scored.
To date Yi has chalked up a .309 average with 5 home runs, driven in 20 runs and scored 18 times. |
 | Friday, May 26th, 1961: Santa Ana Whitewashed by Phillips
Ryan Phillips of the Costa Mesa Coasters not only shut out Santa Ana 8-0, he made it look effortless. Phillips stopped them on 3 hits to help the Coasters cruise past the Winds. His performance included 4 strikeouts and 2 walks.
So far this year Phillips has compiled a 4-1 record with a 2.08 ERA. |
 | Wednesday, May 24th, 1961: Red-Hot Anderson Cools off Riverside
Costa Mesa's Dusty Anderson used his full arsenal today to shoot down Riverside 6-0. All day long, he exhibited fine command of all his pitches, giving up no walks and striking out 2. Anderson allowed the Riverside 4 hits in the victory.
This season Anderson has gone 4-1 with an ERA of 1.13, posting 16 strikeouts in 64 innings. |
