Monday, June 26th, 1961: McKenty Punishes RGL Pitchers This Week
Daniel McKenty of the Corpus Christi Giants has just enjoyed one of the better weeks of his career. That fact was not lost on Rio Grande League officials, who named him Player of the Week.

McKenty logged a .522 batting average for the Corpus Christi Giants, racking up 8 RBIs and 1 home run.

Thus far this season in 61 games McKenty is batting .267 with 8 home runs, 25 RBIs and 28 runs scored. He has 50 hits in 187 at-bats.

Saturday, June 17th, 1961: Sato Whitewashes Corpus Christi
Jackson Stadium played host to a command performance by Seinosuke Sato of the Harlingen Herons. In shutting out Corpus Christi 5-0, Sato limited the Giants to 2 hits. The 26-year-old hurler also fanned 6 and walked 1 in capturing the victory.

In 16 starts this season Sato has chalked up a 10-5 record and a 3.06 ERA.

Monday, June 12th, 1961: Hopkins Picked Best Player
This week he took his hitting to another level. That's why Paul Hopkins of the Corpus Christi Giants was named the Rio Grande League Player of the Week.

For the week the 31-year-old shortstop batted .435 (10-23) with 4 home runs, 8 runs and 11 RBIs.
