The Locks bested the Ice Fishers 4-0 behind the 4-hit pitching of Whit Harris. The Peterborough hurler had 6 strikeouts and 2 walks in going the distance.

 | Friday, June 9th, 1961: Ice Fishers Snap Ornelas's Streak at 22
Millers shortstop Félix Ornelas and his hot bat finally met their match today, ending his 22-game hitting string. The Ice Fishers held Ornelas hitless in 3 at-bats and also whipped Vaughan 4-3 at Major Mackenzie Stadium. After his last at bat, the crowd gave him a standing ovation.
So far this year Ornelas is batting .333 with 1 home run. |
 | Sunday, May 14th, 1961: Keswick's House Shines, Shuts out Peterborough
Steve House effectively shut down the Locks today, blanking them 8-0 on 3 hits, ringing up 9 strikeouts and allowing 2 walks. The Ice Fishers pitcher appeared to get stronger as the game went on.
"I don't know if I was getting any stronger," House said after the game, "I feel like my mechanics were getting better. I was able to make some adjustments and get a little more comfortable out there."
The Locks skipper said, "We had some opportunities, but weren't able to execute. We just didn't swing the bats very well today."
In pitching stats this season House has rung up 3 wins and no losses in 7 games. He has an ERA of 1.85 and has fanned 19 batters in 34 innings. |
