"Yeah, I kept my string going, but it would have been better to come away with a win," said Félix Ornelas after the Vaughan Millers fell 11-4 to Ajax in Major Mackenzie Stadium today.
The 24-year-old shortstop upped his consecutive-game hitting streak to 20 games with 1 hit in 5 at-bats.
F. Ornelas singled in the 1st, flied out in the 3rd, flied out in the 5th, grounded out in the 7th and flied out in the 9th.
This season in 36 games Ornelas is batting .338 with 1 home run, 17 RBIs and has scored 18 times. |
 | Thursday, June 1st, 1961: Ajax's McBride Top Pitcher in May
Daniel McBride is the latest Macdonald League Pitcher of the Month trophy winner. The Ajax starter sparkled on the diamond time and again last month and finished May with an outstanding 6-0 record.
In 7 starts he tossed 44 innings, posted 29 strikeouts, and sported a 2.45 ERA.
This season McBride has registered 8 wins and 1 loss in 11 starts with a 2.14 ERA. |

The Macdonald League Batter of the Month has been picked for May and the honor goes to the Ajax Cruisers Joe Myers.
He compiled a .394 batting average with 41 hits and 6 home runs, along with 32 RBIs and 27 runs scored.
Currently Myers is batting .346 with 46 hits and 6 home runs. He has knocked in 34 runs and scored 30 times. |
