Ienobu Okada put up eye-catching numbers in June to earn himself the Lincoln League Rookie of the Month Award.
The second baseman for the Boston Morrills batted .333 with 8 home runs, 19 RBIs and 16 runs scored as he proved he does deserve to play in the Lincoln League.
This season Okada has hit at a .292 clip with 58 RBIs, 15 home runs and 40 runs scored. |

Today the Lincoln League announced the Player of the Week Award. This week's honoree is Boston third baseman Carl Campeau. When he steps into the batter's box, it's usually bad news for pitchers.
For the week he batted .516 (16-31) with 3 home runs and 8 RBIs.
So far this season, Campeau has recorded a .348 batting average with 72 hits, 11 home runs, 30 RBIs, 40 runs scored and a .392 OBP. |
| Thursday, June 1st, 1961: Rookie of the Month Winner Announced
It might be just his first year in the league, but Ienobu Okada is playing like he's been here before. The Boston second baseman rang up some lofty numbers in the last 30 days and snagged the Lincoln League Rookie of the Month Award.
In May he hit .269 with 5 home runs and 32 hits. He walked 8 times and compiled a .315 on-base percentage, scored 18 times and drove in 29.
This season Okada is swinging the bat at a .268 rate with 48 hits in 179 at-bats. To date he has hit 7 home runs, scored 24 runs and driven in 39. |
