| Breaking News | | Wednesday, June 21st, 1961: Baltimore's Green Goes Ballistic with 5 Hits If just anyone could go out and hit a baseball, big dollar contracts wouldn't exist. But they can't, so the good hitters get the big bucks. Glen Green showed how it's done as he went 5 for 6 against the Cleveland Eagles and helped the Baltimore Barons beat them 20-3.
The manager for the Eagles told the BNN sportswriters, "We made some bad pitches and he took advantage of it. That's the game of baseball. Don't make mistakes and you win a lot more ballgames."
If Green keeps hitting like this, he could be headed for a big pay raise.
G. Green hit a solo-shot off D. Hewett in the 1st, grounded out in the 2nd, doubled in the 4th, singled in the 6th, hit an RBI single in the 7th and hit a solo-shot off T. Bishop in the 9th.
During the 1961 season Green has hit .245 with 13 home runs and 42 RBIs.
