Sunday, June 18th, 1961: Golden Gators Barber Injured
A blow for Leslie Barber today -- team doctors confirmed he will miss 1-2 weeks with dead arm syndrome. Barber suffered the injury throwing a pitch. Although officials from the San Francisco Golden Gators are confident he'll make a full recovery, doubts will persist about Barber's ability to return fully fit with an injury of this nature.

This season Barber has made 25 relief appearances, pitched 34.2 innings and struck out 17 with a record of 1 win and 1 loss. He has compiled a 3.12 ERA and saved 0 games.
Saturday, June 17th, 1961: Sánchez out of Lineup 1-2 Weeks
San Francisco fans will be disappointed to learn that Alejandro Sánchez developed a tender shoulder while throwing a pitch in today's game. After the doctor informed the San Francisco Golden Gators manager that Sánchez was expected to miss 1-2 weeks, the manager told the press that the rest of the team would have to step up their play until the starting pitcher could return. "You can't make excuses in baseball, because there's always a game tomorrow," said the team's skipper.

In 9 starts this season, Sánchez has picked up 1 win while suffering 4 losses. He has pitched 46.1 innings, allowed 55 hits, struck out 26 and posted a 5.44 ERA.
Monday, June 12th, 1961: Golden Gators Morán to Miss Year
António Morán has to call it a season. The San Francisco Golden Gators left fielder sustained a season-ending injury against the St. Louis Dredgers and will not play again this year according to club doctors. Morán was injured while making a defensive play. His doctors diagnosed it as a pinched nerve and stated that he would not be able to play for 7-8 months.

So far this season Morán is batting .275 with 13 home runs.
