Saturday, June 17th, 1961: Great Day for Garrett -- 5 Hits
It was high-5 day at Guzik Stadium, at least for Daniel Garrett of the Chicago Hitmen. He got a lot of high-5's for his outstanding hitting against the Cincinnati Rivermen, but he and his teammates couldn't pull out a win. Garrett smashed 5 hits in 6 at-bats on a his record-setting day, but Chicago still dropped the game 12-9.

His manager said, "Daniel was hitting everything. It really was a special game for him. Too bad the other guys couldn't rise to the occasion and get the victory."

In the other dugout the opposing manager told BNN writers, "Garrett bushwhacked my boys today. Obviously we didn't have much success against him, but luckily, we won the ballgame."

D. Garrett singled in the 1st, singled in the 2nd, singled in the 4th, grounded out in the 6th, hit an RBI single in the 7th and hit a two-run home run off J. Michaelis in the 9th.

This season Garrett is hitting .403 with 48 hits, 1 home run, 12 RBIs, scored 22 runs and played in 36 games.
Thursday, June 1st, 1961: RF Raymond Ward Hurt
After injuring himself, Rivermen right fielder Raymond Ward headed straight to the hospital. He was removed from the game as a precaution after making a defensive play and the team's worst fears were confirmed when it turned out to be a little more serious. Ward will miss at least one week with a concussion.

So far this year Ward has hit .273 with 3 home runs, 10 RBIs, and 21 runs scored.
